The 2021 Estérel Futnet Cup edition has had such a great success that we could have not move forward without trying to make it take place again. Officially, Saint-Raphaël will host for three days in July 2022 the best European futnet teams, both men and women teams.
How did we get here?
Estérel Futnet Cup’s first edition has been organized thanks to Futnet Raphaëlois Club, the city of Saint-Raphaël and the French Futnet Federation. The public enjoyed the spectacle offered by European and French teams but also exhibition games with famous former athletes (footballers, handball players and a single rugby player). This year’s edition has gathered 8 male teams for the Champions Tournament (the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the representative of Ile-de-France/ Normandy, the Mediterranean representative, SC Bastia, Futnet Raphaëlois Club, the Atlantic representative and the Corsican representative), 4 female teams ( 2 Czech teams, Switzerland and OGC Nice Féminines) for the Stars Tournament and numerous sponsors for the Sponsors Tournament. Both the Czech male team and the Czech female team have won the Estérel Futnet Cup and this didn’t come as a surprise at all because the Czech national team is known as having the world’s best futnet players.
Where to next?
After all the positive feedback the Estérel Futnet Cup has received not only from the participants and the public but also from the media, a second edition of this high level tournament will take place next year in the same city, Saint-Raphaël, during three days of July (15th, 16th, 17th) in Coullet square. Taking into consideration this year’s Women Futnet World Championship rankings, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Poland and Slovakia have been invited and out of all these we are left with the Slovakian team to confirm its participation in the women tournament. Hopefully, teams as Romania, South Korea, Irak and Spain will be also joining the next tournaments.
Regarding men’s tournament, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Poland, Slovakia, France A, France B, Futnet Raphaëlois + the winner of the qualification tournament taking place on June 11th, 2022 are the teams that will face each other in the group stage.
How things will unfold?
Organizational information:
- The event will take place in Saint-Raphaël starting from early July 15th until 19th of July. Bearing in mind that on 14th of July we celebrate French National Day and tickets might be considerably more expensive because of it, arrivals in Saint-Raphaël should take place on Friday, July 15th, and in order for the participants to discover the place and the sea without being under competitive pressure, departure should take place on Tuesday, July 19th, after breakfast.
- The organisation will provide lodging (4 nights), breakfasts and dinners, on the basis of a delegation of 11 persons per country (typically 4 men players, 4 women players, 2 coaches, 1 head of delegation).
Tournament rules:
- In the men’s tournament, each team out of the 8 participants will play 6 games: 3 in the group stage (2 groups of 4 teams) + 3 in the final stage (quarter final, semi final and final or ranking games).
- In the women’s tournament, each team out of the 4 participants will play 5 games: 3 in the group stage (1 group of 4 teams) + 2 in the final stage (semi final, final, or ranking game).
We are eager to welcome you next year in Saint-Raphaël!
